Short biography

Jennifer earned her BSc in Environmental Science of the Earth and Atmosphere at the University of Reading, UK, in 2003, then worked as a research assistant at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Edinburgh, gaining expertise in trace gas flux measurements, rain chemistry, and deposition mapping. From 2006–2010, she completed a PhD at the University of Manchester on surface ozone deposition over grassland, rainforest, and sea ice, comparing flux measurement and ozone detection techniques.

As a postdoc, she extended her work to airborne measurements during national and international campaigns on the FAAM BAe 146 research aircraft, investigating night-time chemistry, forest fire outflows, London city emissions, and greenhouse gas emissions in the UK and Arctic.

Since 2015, Jennifer has worked at the Meteorological Observatory Hohenpeissenberg (DWD) within the WMO Global Atmosphere Watch programme, focusing on long-term OH reactivity measurements. Since 2019, she has been part of the ICOS team, operating DWD tall tower stations and ensuring high standards for greenhouse gas data. Most recently, she has been involved in the coordination of the Integrated Greenhouse Gas Monitoring System for Germany (ITMS), which uses ICOS and other data to support national greenhouse gas inventory reporting.
