49°06' N / 8°26' E

Altitude: 110 m a.s.l.

Tower height: 200 m

Samples of trace gases are taken at four heights (30 m, 60 m, 100 m and 200 m) with a measurement duration of 5 minutes per measurement changing between the heights. A Picarro G2301 CRDS analyser is used to record CO2 and CH4. For the analysis of N2O and CO, the station is equipped with an Los Gatos 30-EP measuring device by the end of 2016.

Additionally C14 samples are collected and sent to the Radiocarbon Laboratory for analysis (http://www.icos-infrastruktur.de/en/icos-d/komponenten/labore/radiokohlenstofflabor-heidelberg/). The 14C isotope is an indicator of the proportion of fossil fuels in CO2.

The meteorological parameters are observed using the following instruments:

  • Air temperature and humidity: Vaisala HMP155
  • Wind direction and speed: Thies Ultrasonic Anemometer 2D UA2D
  • Air pressure: Vaisala PTB330
  • Global radiation: Kipp & Zonen CM6B

These data are supplied on a continuous basis at a time resolution of 1 minute.
